User Submitted Tips

  • We recently decided to replace our shower downstairs to make it friendlier for our elderly parents. We wanted one that included a seat. We shopped for the different shower enclosures and shower doors. But, before shopping, I made a checklist of the different items I wanted in a shower door and enclosure. This way, I could tell the sales guy right off the bat. I wrote down the size, shape, height, and style of the shower enclosure I would need. I also made sure the enclosure came with a tray to prevent water leaking from the shower. The checklist saved us lots of time, and helped the sales guy locate exactly what we were looking for.
  • Recently I became so fed up and frustrated with my shower doors that I just went ahead and removed them. Took them out into the driveway in front of my house and backed our car over them a couple times. This is something I should have done years ago. The junk doors, like the ones I had, are made from a cheap clear plastic material. Good doors, like the ones I now have, are made from real glass and are much easier to keep clean. Plastic doors eventually become cloudy and gnarly looking.
  • One thing I hated about my sliding shower doors was cleaning them. They are virtually impossible to clean. Mildew gets stuck in the out of reach cracks. And talk about water build up on the doors! Try getting that off, especially those plastic glass doors. I was up to my ears in soap scum when I decided to replace my shower doors. I went with a frameless glass shower door. That's right, frameless! To me that equals less work for me and a cleaner shower. No more water build up or hidden away mildew.
