User Submitted Tips

  • As annoying as construction zones are I am glad that our tax money is going to maintain a safe and semi pot hole free road. We all see the orange traffic cones a mile away, however; it is still mandatory that the construction crew have on safety clothes as well. This not only protects them from us, but also them from the elements. The vests are bright so they are easy to see and even have reflectors for after dark. The helmets are bright for the same reason, but there is a lot of heavy equipment out there, one stray rock can put you out of a job for life.
  • I do a lot of home improvement and am working with saws and what not. One day, a wood chip flew into my eye, and I had to take a trip to the emergency room. I learned my lesson. From that day on, I wear safety goggles when working. Eye protective safety is imperative when you are doing tasks that have potential to throw something dangerous into your eye. You can get safety goggles or glasses. You can even get full face shields. There are different types out there at very reasonable prices. Of course, my eyesight is priceless, so I would pay a pretty penny to protect it.
  • I've never been one for woodworking; in fact I knew a guy who lost a couple fingers in my high school woodworking class. So these types of tools freak me out! The new types of tools available, however still dangerous, have so many more safety features on them. I like to stick to the small handheld tools myself. One of my most favorite woodworking tools though hands down has to be my air compressor and nail gun. When I first made the purchase my wife thought I was nuts, but now she is even using it.
