- What would be more fun than being your own designer? Silk screen printing has allowed the average person to do just that. Here's how it's done: First of all find an image you want to add to your shirt. Then cut out the image and lay it on top of your shirt, then put the silk screen on top. Now you choose your color and put it all over your silk screen and squeegee to remove the excess paint, in a vertical motion only. Now it is time to lift off the stencil and screen and allow the shirt to dry. It is also helpful once the shirt is dry to put a piece of tracing paper on top and iron it.
- I've been into screen-printing for many years now. Worked with a number of different mediums, all the inks and aluminum screens. What has really caught my eye now is the technology driving a whole new level of screen print work. Using my computer and a seriously technologically advanced piece of printing equipment things have changed. I love the old fashion way of creating but this new revolution has double the quality and is twice as fast. The quality of my prints and products has jumped tremendously; yes the equipment is expensive but way worth it.
- Believe it or not, the local printing supply store is the perfect place to get gifts for the family. Printing supplies don't just consist of business cards and t-shirts anymore. Each year, I have my son draw a picture of whatever it is he has been interested in that year or of a memorable moment from the year. I then take his drawing to the printing supply company. They shrink and copy his picture, and then print it several hundred times. They make it into small notepads that are put together with an adhesive. The grandparents love it, and so does my son. He always wants to use "his paper" to take notes. And, the best part, it is pretty darn cheap!
