User Submitted Tips

  • I am looking for something unique and different to decorate my beach house with. Right after the movie Ghost came out I went through a phase of doing my own pottery. I didn't last very long, but I have kept my appreciation for pottery, especially some of the things done in ancient times. Although there aren't any original pieces around anymore, I have bought some very good replicas of some Neolithic clay pots. I've also found online a fabulous recreation of an ancient Greece watering pot. I think to complete my collection I'll see if I can find an antique pottery wheel.
  • My son is memorized every time we go to the pottery shop at a local amusement park. He loves watching the potters use the potter's wheel to transform a ball of clay into a pot, vase, plate, etc. That provoked me to look into a pottery class for him. Luckily there was a pottery studio just down the road from my house. I called them and inquired about lessons for my young son. They had children and adult classes. The cost of the lesson included the use of all required equipment and supplies. I love having his homemade pottery around the house.
  • I have found a new hobby that I am really getting into: pottery making. I love it! It is truly easy to learn, and it allows me the freedom to express my creativity. I signed up to take the pottery lessons at a local community college. Our teacher is great. She has taught me how to make all sorts of things. Right now, I am making some pottery dinnerware. I hope to make a whole set. Making pottery is a great outlet that I would highly recommend for any creative soul out there who wants to show off his skills.
