- I sat around one Saturday morning watching home improvement shows on television. After watching a couple episodes, I decide I wanted to do a project of my own. I went to the lumber store, got me some lumber and nails, and decided to build a built-in in my closet. Now before heading off to the lumber store, I got online and found step by step instructions. I took measurements and soon I was busy building. It turned out pretty good considering it was my first. And it saved me a lot of money. Do you know how much premade shelves for my closet would have run me? That was just the beginning. There are plenty of other home improvement projects around here. I have a feeling that me and the guys at the lumber store are going to become good friends.
- Oh boy the ancient hardware store of the middle 1900's has proven to be and icon of the future. I would give anything to have the convenience and price offered by the original hardware stores. Today we have a new technological advanced and quite expensive cheap version of the past. That's the 80 year old in me talking, because I miss the days of the boys heading home from the war, hooking up their HAM radios and living the dream. Well the dream is long and gone in the dust bowl of what everything used to be.
- Have you ever just been sitting in your kitchen, looking around, wondering what you could do to liven it up a bit? Well, the other day, I did just that. And that is when I decided to take a trip to the hardware store. I didn't have anything in particular in mind. I just wanted to find something to mix things up a bit in my kitchen. And, that is when I found it: door knobs. I know, you probably think I'm crazy. But, the choices and styles of the different cabinet doorknobs was a perfect, inexpensive way to spruce things up a bit. I bought the knobs and installed them myself in a matter of minutes. It made a huge difference in my kitchen. So, the next time you need a change of pace, head to the hardware store. They have a ton of products and ideas to change even minor details in your home.
