- Buying something for my house when I'm depressed is like chocolate! But, I can't justify spending lots of money on these things, so I've found a way to save money but still be able to give myself a little boost now and again. Discount houseware sites are my savior! Housewares can mean anything from small appliances to candle sticks, picture frames and tablecloths. And these sites have lots of good deals! Some of them are overstock from department stores or home furnishing stores. The company ordered too many of one thing or another and so now, you get a deal!
- When shopping for housewares, you should try to be as room specific in your search as possible. The term housewares is so general, that it will take forever to wade through all the results. Of course, if there is a specific item that you want, that's easy enough. If you don't know what you want, but you do know which room you want it for, search kitchen houseware sites, living room houseware sites, bedroom houseware sites. That way you don't have to get distracted by all the other pretty things to put in your home.
- Since everything else is done by computer, it was only a matter of time before catalogs would be there, too. But, these are great. Online houseware catalogs are some of my favorites. Unlike paper catalogs, you can look at the items from several angles, even magnify them, the picture quality is better, and you can order and sometimes have the order shipped that day. There are even room specific online houseware catalogs, with only products that belong in that particular room. I kind of miss the paper catalogs, but online catalogs are definitely better!
- I am the kind of person who doesn't like to have anything that is exactly like anyone else's. Call me weird, but I say unique. That goes for decorating my house, too. There are lots of chain stores selling housewares, but that's not unique. I prefer to look at imported housewares websites. The variety of items available is mind-boggling. Candle-sticks, picture frames, clocks, art, knick-knacks. And each and every one from a different foreign country. The big thing to look out for when shopping these import websites is the quality of products. The quality usually goes along with the price, but if you are buying a more pricey item, make sure you know the import stores return policy.
