User Submitted Tips

  • My Uncle Carl was an avid fisherman. It didn't matter if there was snow on the ground and the temperature was below zero-he would still go out on the lake to fish. However, he also taught my cousins and me the importance of using the right fishing tackle and gear. Depending on the types of fish, it was important to know the bait to use, the reels to use, what rods worked best, and even where to fish. My uncle was a wealth of fishing information. He would always say the key to catching fish was to be prepared. So, if I were you, I would find your nearest fishing tackle dealers. Do some research. Ask questions. Then, you will be guaranteed to have some amazing fish stories.
  • Fishing isn't just a sport-it's a science. You're naïve if you think you can just go fishing without any prior knowledge on the type of supplies and tackle to take. So, before your first fishing trip, wise up and head to the fishing tackle dealers. Talk to them about the fish you hope to catch. This is essential. Not every fish is created equal. So, you need the right fishing lures to catch the fish. And, just like not all humans eat the same things, neither do fish! The same lure doesn't fit every fish in the sea! So, know your fish. Then, buy the fishing gear and supplies you need to match your fish. Trust me-you'll thank me in the end.
