User Submitted Tips

  • Convenient food stores offer everything from gasoline to hot foods, from deli sandwiches, to bill payment services. On Tuesday night I was taking my son to his first hockey game and left my camera at home. I was devastated, and I knew I needed to act fast. So, I pulled off the side of the road and walked into a convenient mart looking for a disposable camera, and I got my hands on the last one. I couldn't believe it...the last one! Needless to say we didn't win the hockey game that night, but I got a lifetime of photo memories thanks to a convenient store.
  • I have a convenience store right up the road from my house. And has it ever been a lifesaver at times. I have needed a quick cup of milk while cooking dinner, or a loaf of bread for lunches. With all of the convenience store locations, there is one on just about every corner. When I am in a hurry, I like being able to run in and out without having to stand in long lines. A lot of them are open twenty-four hours a day too! They are handy in a crunch, but be prepared to spend more on items at a convenience store.
  • I owned a convenience store franchise right out of college. I thought it would be a great experience to learn the ropes of owning and running a successful business. I learned to schedule work hours for staff, balance accounts, order products and much more. It was truly a learning experience, and I was happy that I started from the bottom up. I have to say that it wasn't college that gave me my experience; it was my convenience store franchise that taught me what I needed to know. I am still the proud owner of my first convenience store, along with four others. If you are thinking of owning your own convenience store franchise, I would definitely start young-you'll quickly be able to learn the ropes and be ahead of the game.
